In
the context of the International Alliance for Peace and Development, the Assyrian
Monitor for Human Rights and MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights
signed a joint cooperation protocol with the aim of coordination and
cooperation in the field of providing support, assistance and capacity building
in the field of working with the UN and regional mechanisms for human rights.
The protocol comes in light of the integration of experiences between the AMHR
and MAAT, the CP was signed on the 17th of October 2017, stipulating
the cooperation between the two parties in the implementation of national,
regional and international training programs, providing technical support and
consultation, organizing and sponsoring relative activities and events, as well
as extending the work between the two parties to the field of international
commitments linked to the goals of sustainable development.
Mr.
Ayman Okeil, Head of the Board of Trustees at MAAT stated that "the joint
protocol with the Assyrian Monitor comes in the framework of the steps taken
towards the establishment and management of the International Alliance for
Peace and Development, launched by MAAT and composing more than 24 CSOs across
the world, with the aim of promoting overall cooperation, coordination and
joint work between CSOs al over the world, to contribute to the achievement of
peace and development, as well as restoring the human rights values agreed upon
by the world, and adopted by the UN human rights system".
Mr.
Jamil Diarbakerli, Manager at the Assyrian Monitor for Human Rights, stressed
on the important cooperation as a step in the right direction, to be followed
in the near future by practical steps represented in the organization of joint
activities in a number of the MENA region states, indicating that the world of
today and the MENA region in particular need the spread of culture of peace, as
peace is the effective weapon against extremism, violence, hatred, sectarianism,
and terrorism. In the process of building secure and democratic countries
welcoming for all citizens.
It's
worth mentioning that MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights is based in
Egypt and has the Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and
Social Council.
